Anuga Special

Anuga kicked off under heavy rain

The 2025 edition of the Anuga trade fair began this Saturday amid a heavy storm in the city of Cologne, Germany.

As always, many people showed up at the Koelnmesse venue, although some halls appeared less crowded than in previous years. Some speculated that the long weekend in Germany —Friday, October 3, was a national holiday commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall— may have led many Germans to take the weekend off and delay their visit to the fair.

Nevertheless, the halls dedicated to meat showed a decent turnout, especially Hall 9, where there was a higher concentration of poultry meat exporters. In particular, the MBRF stand, located in that hall, was one of the most crowded. The buzz around the new company —formed just a couple of weeks ago through the merger between Marfrig and BRF, now one of the largest food corporations in the world— surely played a major role in the large turnout at its booth.

By mid-afternoon, the weather improved, and the sun came out, though it remained cold.
