Record beef exports in the first half of the year
Brazil exported 241,100 tons (shipment weight) of fresh beef in June, with the average value continuing to rise. According to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), the average FOB price in June was US$/t 5,448, almost US$/t 250 more than in May and the highest since October 2022, nearly three years ago, when export prices were falling after peaking in the first half of that year.
In the first half of 2025, Brazil shipped a record 1.29 million tons of beef, with a year-on-year increase of nearly 150,000 tons (13%). Meanwhile, the average FOB price for the period also rose 13% year-on-year to US$/t 5,100.
Signs of a reversal in the cattle cycle, already observed in some key producing states like Mato Grosso, raise expectations that this sharp increase in export volumes may begin to moderate—although this will also depend on how domestic demand for beef evolves.
