June beef shipments to the US were the lowest of the semester

Paraguay exported 35,635 tons of beef in June at an average value of US$/t 5,845, according to information released by Senacsa. This volume was the highest of the first half of the year, while the average value maintained the upward trend that has prevailed since February.

As usual, Chile was the main customer of Paraguayan beef exporters, with 11,330 tons shipped during the month. However, its purchases fell 10% in the first half of the year due to competition from Brazilian production. Taiwan ranked second with 5,249 tons, and Israel came in third with 3,669 tons.

As with exports from Uruguay to the United States, there was a sharp drop in Paraguayan shipments to this destination, falling from 4,907 tons in May to 1,167 tons in June, the lowest monthly volume so far this year.
