Average beef export value rose 20% in the first half of the year
In the first half of 2025, Uruguay exported 198,000 tons of beef at an average value of US$ 6,592 per ton, according to export application data reported by Customs. The volume increased by 4% year-on-year (around 8,000 tons), in line with the rise in slaughter, while the average export value posted a strong 20% annual increase, driven by solid demand from the United States and the European Union, along with steady buying interest from China.
In June, 33,098 tons were exported at an average of US$ 6,877 per ton, about 3,000 tons less than in May. The average export value experienced only a slight monthly drop of US$ 12 per ton, despite the lower relative weight of the European Union, since most shipments under the 481 quota —which have a higher average value— were made in May.
