Poland reports first ASF case in 2025
Poland has reported its first case of African swine fever (ASF) on a commercial farm in 2025. The outbreak was detected on a farm with 1,311 pigs in Luzino, Pomerania, near Gdansk, according to Eurocarne.
This is the third outbreak on a farm in the Pomerania province, with the previous two occurring in 2024. The area surrounding Gdansk has recorded most wild boar infections in 2025.
Since ASF entered Poland in 2014, outbreaks on pig farms have generally occurred during the summer months and have been linked to hay and straw transport used as bedding.
So far in 2025, 2,322 infected wild boars have been detected. Since 2014, 35 large Polish farms have been affected by the virus, the largest of which had 23,631 pigs.
