Minimal activity in the sheep market

The sheep meat market remains firm, with prices gradually trending upward. Lambs are paid at US$ 4.40 per kilo, while mutton trades between US$ 3.65 and US$ 3.75. Some plants are primarily processing mutton.

Sheep slaughter fell 35% compared to the previous week. In the week ending June 14, a total of 6,655 sheep were processed, 3,580 fewer than the week before. Lambs accounted for 3,385 head, or 51% of the total.

The most active plants were Las Piedras (3,916), Frigocerro (1,436), and Oferan (852).
