Grupo Lequio announced the acquisition of 80% of the shares of Grupo Mattievich, which includes five slaughter plants and one by-products facility located in Santa Fe province: one slaughterhouse and a by-products processing plant in Carcarañá, two slaughterhouses in Villa Gobernador Gálvez, another in Casilda, and one more in Arroyo Seco.

Grupo Lequio has experienced exponential growth in recent years. In 2018 it acquired Frigorífico Alberdi (in Entre Ríos); in 2021, Carnes Pampeanas (La Pampa); and in 2024, Black Bamboo (formerly Hughes), in Santa Fe — all export-oriented plants. In 2022 it also acquired Uruguay’s La Florida plant, although this year it was sold to Abasto de Carnes Saturno, a Uruguayan-owned company. With this latest transaction, and if it maintains current slaughter levels, Lequio would become the largest beef processor in the country.
