Cattle slaughter up 3.8 % versus the same period last year

In the first quarter of 2025, 9.71 million head of cattle were slaughtered under some form of sanitary inspection service, informed the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistcs (Ibge). Compared with the same period a year earlier, this figure represents an increase of 3.8 %, and versus the fourth quarter of 2024, the rise was 1.5 %.

Production of cattle carcasses totaled 2.45 million tons in the first quarter of 2025, up 1.6 % on the same quarter of the previous year but down 2.0 % on the fourth quarter of 2024.
