Fed cattle up US$/cwt 4-10 in the north

In the north of the USA fed cattle traded for US$/cwt 222-3 live and US$/cwt 350-2 dressed — US$/cwt 4-10 higher in the week. In the south most cattle traded for US$/cwt 218. This activity fell on the heels of a skeptical futures market. Prices have moved up too fast and could also track downward with the same speed. Price spreads between the northern and southern plains are at times deceiving. Cash trade in the south often consists of lower grade cattle with higher quality cattle selling at “over the top” prices that are not reported, The AG Center reported.
