Beef exports up 21% year on year despite drop in top market
The National Service for Animal Quality and Health (Senacsa) reported that in the first four months of 2025 Paraguay exported 117,000 tons (shipment weight) of fresh beef, a solid increase of 22,000 tons compared with the same period in 2024.
However, Chile—the main destination for Paraguayan beef—cut its purchases by 13 % year on year to 35,119 tons. The next most relevant destinations, Taiwan, Israel and, above all, the United States, significantly increased their purchases of Paraguayan beef by 79 %, 49 % and 432 %, respectively.
In April Paraguay exported 26,382 tons at an average FOB value of US$/t 5,641. The volume fell by about 3,500 tons compared with March, while the average value slipped a marginal 0.6 %.
Among European buyers, Italy and the Netherlands stand out with around 700 tons each so far this year, almost quadrupling their 2024 volumes.
