Pará enters the international kosher beef market with new plant
The Brazilian state of Pará has joined the international kosher beef export route with the start of operations by RAMAX Group in Paragominas. The company took over the former Fortefrigo plant and began kosher-certified slaughtering, opening new opportunities for local producers and strengthening the state’s role in the export-oriented agribusiness sector.
With a cattle herd of around 405,000 head, Paragominas is one of Pará’s leading livestock municipalities. Its location, close to the ports of Vila do Conde (Barcarena) and Santarém, facilitates access to international markets.
The RAMAX–Paragominas facility has a daily slaughtering capacity of 500 head of cattle, with plans to expand to 750 head per day. About 85% of its production will be exported to Israel, while the remaining 15% will supply the domestic market.
According to the company’s CEO, Magno Alexandre Gaia, the initiative “represents an opportunity for local producers to access a high–value-added market.” Gaia emphasized that kosher slaughter “requires strict religious standards that ensure quality, traceability, and value appreciation for the production.”
