Hog slaughter reaches the best quarterly result in the historical series
The slaughter of 15.01 million hogs grew 2.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and 4.1% against the first quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, the slaughter of 1.64 billion chickens represented an increase of 1.1% compared to the same period of 2024 and a 0.4% decline against the first quarter of 2025.
The quarterly hog slaughter result was the highest for the months of May and June and set a record in the historical series that began in 1997. Angela Lordão explained that the increase in hog slaughter in the country is driven by rising domestic consumption, supported by cuts that are easy to prepare, attractive prices, and quality campaigns by the sector, in addition to record exports, with strong demand from the Philippines and growth in other destinations such as Chile and Japan, which offset the decline in Chinese purchases.
