China’s beef imports rose to around 220,000 tons in June, the highest volume since January and above the same month last year, according to GACC data released by OIG+X. It was the first month this year showing a year-on-year increase in volume.
The value of these imports reached US$ 1.106 billion, plus US$ 12 million for beef offal.
In the first half of the year, China imported 1.3 million tons shipment weight of beef, down 9.5% year-on-year.
As for sheepmeat, China imported 29.07 tons in June at an average value of US$/t 3,866 and 213,032 tons in the semester at US$/t 3,807.
In total, China imported 530,000 tons of meat in June and 3.2 million tons in the first half of the year, with a 3.6% year-on-year increase in June and a 2.7% decrease in the accumulated first half.
