After bottoming out at less than 20,000 tonnes of beef exports in April, June data showed a second consecutive monthly increase, bringing export volumes back close to the levels typically seen over the past two years.
According to Customs export application data, Uruguay exported 30,293 tonnes shipment weight of fresh beef in June, almost 5,000 tonnes more than in May and more than 10,000 tonnes above the April low, an increase of 55%. The volume was also just 2,500 tonnes below that of June 2025.
The average export value eased slightly by 0.9% to US$/t 8,298. The share of chilled beef exports, which command higher unit values, was larger in May because most of the beef from grainfed cattle destined for entry into Europe from July 1 in the 481-quota was shipped during that month.
In the first half of 2026, Uruguay exported 166,182 tonnes of fresh beef at an average value of US$/t 7,862. Export volume declined 16% year-on-year, while the average value increased by 20%.
