Despite a 16% decline in total export volume during the first half of the year, exports to most destinations fell. Israel and Japan were two notable exceptions.
Frozen beef shipments to Israel increased 17% year-on-year to 3,883 tonnes, while chilled beef exports rose 30% to 2,155 tonnes. Meanwhile, frozen beef exports to Japan increased 9% in the first half to 3,736 tonnes.
In both markets, the increase in average FOB values exceeded the overall average. The average export value to Israel rose 42% year-on-year to US$/t 10,787, while Japan's increased 27% to US$/t 7,801.
Another noteworthy development was the sharp increase in chilled beef exports to Mexico, which rose from negligible volumes in the first half of 2025 to 1,139 tonnes this year.
The United States remained a major-volume destination, ranking first for boneless frozen beef exports with 9,411 tonnes in June and 51,356 tonnes during the first half. It also ranked second for chilled beef imports with 3,305 tonnes, behind only the Netherlands on a year-to-date basis.
