Paraguayan exporters are facing stronger competition from Brazil in Chile, traditionally their main export market.
During the first half of the year, Paraguayan beef exports to Chile fell 25% year-on-year to 42,986 tons. This was partially offset by a 16% increase in the average export value, which reached US$ 6,981 per ton.
Meanwhile, exports to the United States increased 14% during the first half to 22,692 tons, making the country Paraguay's second-largest destination for beef exports.
