With the virtual disappearance of the United States from the market, Uruguay became the dominant supplier in China’s imported bovine offal segment.
Between January and April, China imported 23,430 tons from Uruguay, up 479% from the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, imports from the United States collapsed 70% year-on-year after China suspended imports from most US plants early last year.
Following the reinstatement of more than 400 plants after Trump’s visit to Beijing, it is possible that import volumes from the United States will begin to recover.
