In the cumulative total for the first three weeks of May, Brazil exported 203,481 tons of beef at an average value of US$ 6,492/t, according to data released by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex). The daily average of shipments stood at 13,565 tons.
Looking only at the third week of the month, shipments totaled 62,131 tons at an average value of US$ 6,564/t.
The average export value continues to show a strong upward trend. The average of US$ 6,492/t in the first three weeks of May is more than US$ 900/t above the average value recorded in the three weeks through mid-February. Since then, the trend has moved steadily higher.
Given the price stability seen since mid-April — and even the moderate declines recorded in average export values to China in recent weeks — Brazilian beef exports are likely to stabilize their average values in the coming weeks.
