The quota imposed by China on Brazilian beef could be reviewed before 2028, according to producer Umberto Paulinelli.
Since its implementation, prices for Brazilian forequarter cuts have increased by 21%, making the product more expensive for Chinese consumers. In this context, the quota could be filled by June or July, potentially forcing China to reconsider the restriction to contain domestic inflation.
Beyond the short term, Paulinelli believes the measure could benefit Brazil by encouraging market diversification and reducing dependence on China. However, he warned that strong growth in live cattle exports—especially from Pará—could limit slaughter supply and increase industry costs.
