The National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) welcomed the announcement that US beef will receive duty-free access to Indonesia under a new trade agreement signed by President Donald Trump.
As part of the deal, Indonesia committed to purchase at least 50,000 tons of US beef annually and to recognize USDA authority on food safety and animal health, expanding export opportunities for American producers.
NCBA noted that US beef exports to Indonesia have long faced significant tariff and non-tariff barriers, limiting market development. With the agreement, US cattle producers gain access to the world’s fourth most populous country and the largest halal beef market globally.
The association added that, combined with the recent Taiwan agreement, US cattle producers now have expanded market access not seen in decades.
