With many market participants away for the holiday period over the past two weeks, expectations are now centered on the tariff-preference quotas opening on January 1 for the US calendar year. One quota draws the most attention: the third-country quota (52,000 tons), which is expected to be filled in a short period (some estimate even less than last year’s three weeks), mainly by Brazilian exporters and, to a lesser extent, Paraguayan ones.
