As expected —given the high idle capacity in the industry— cattle slaughter at export-approved plants saw a marked decline in October. A total of 165,955 head were processed, down 8% year-on-year (−15,000 animals) and about 8,000 fewer than in September. It was also the second lowest level of activity so far this year, only above the March low of 163,000.
