USDA price reporting allowed only a few sales in Texas and Kansas to be reported even though many “over the top” transactions completed in the cash market. USDA allows “over the tops” to be lost in the pool of formula cattle despite knowing the cash price each Monday morning. Friday had numerous sales at US$/cwt 1-2 over the cash. Light sales in the south at US$/cwt 235-236. Fairly good volumes of cattle sold this past week in the north at US$/cwt 230 — US$/cwt 8 lower than the bulk of last week’s prices and US$/cwt 360 dressed — US$ 10 lower, The AG Center said.
