The cattle market remained calm in recent days, with Monday’s holiday and heavy rain in Asunción reducing activity. Supply is scarce and industry demand is strong, with firm prices. The reference stands at US$/kg 4.65 for common steers and US$/kg 4.30 for cows, although some specific deals were reported at US$/kg 4.70–4.80 for the former. Some producers are even aiming for US$/kg 5.00 for large lots, a price already reached for feedlot cattle. “I’m not sure if the industry will validate those levels,” commented a broker.
