As expected, considering the growth of shipments to China in June from the main suppliers, imports in July reached 250 thousand tons, according to preliminary GACC figures reported by OIG+X.
The volume is about 30 thousand tons higher than in June and also than in July last year, in addition to being the largest imported volume since January. It is the second consecutive month in which the volume increases in the annual comparison, something that had not happened in the first five months of the year. The value of imports was US$ 1.323 billion, plus about US$ 12 million in beef offal.
In the first seven months of the year, China imported 1.55 million tons of beef for US$ 7.973 billion, with a 6.1% decline in volume and a 1.0% increase in CIF value.
Total meat imports in the month reached 530 thousand tons for US$ 2.053 billion, with an annual decline of 1.5% in volume and an 11.5% increase in value.
