Chile facilitates meat exports from the state of Paraná

Last week, Chile officially recognized Paraná as free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination and classical swine fever. The announcement had been made in April during the Chilean president’s visit to Brazil. However, only now can Paraná’s slaughterhouses apply for accreditation and begin exporting to the country. According to the agreement between Brazil and Chile, the certifications will be pre-numbered. This means that the plants will not need to undergo inspections by Chilean authorities. Certification will be granted by Brazil itself, following Chile’s guidelines. In practice, this shortens the process.
