Bolivia declared free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination by WOAH
The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) officially declared Bolivia free of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) without vaccination last Thursday, a status the organization described as “a great achievement” due to recent local and regional coordination efforts. The recognition was granted during the 92nd WOAH General Session, held in Paris.
Juan Miguel Quiroz, national director of Bolivia’s National Service for Agricultural Health and Food Safety (Senasag), said the declaration leaves them “satisfied and happy” with the coordination and joint work carried out with the private sector to reach this goal. “This means our products now have access to more international markets, which helps our national economy,” Quiroz stated.
