From yesterday through 22 May, a public private Argentine delegation will tour Southeast Asian countries, chiefly to open new markets for Argentine beef and expand existing ones. The mission will visit:
• Indonesia – seeking sanitary clearance for beef and offal and advancing the halal certification process;
• Japan – to negotiate access for beef from the entire Argentine territory (not just the foot and mouth disease free zone without vaccination) and for bovine tongue;
• China – to progress on the protocol for exporting offal.
Separately, 26 beef exporters will take part in SIAL China from 19 to 21 May.
