“The halal market is not waiting for beef: it is waiting for trust”

Uruguay is currently missing a concrete opportunity to access high-value markets for its beef and other agri-food products due to the lack of a defined strategy toward halal consumption, a segment that is growing strongly worldwide and goes far beyond the Muslim population. This was highlighted by Ana Laura DeLeon, a halal-rite expert, during INAC’s 2025 outlook and wrap-up presentation, where she stressed that the challenge is not productive but strategic.
