Poultry meat trade could rise 25% by 2034, says USDA
According to projections by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), by 2034 the top global importers of chicken meat could purchase over 15 million tons, a volume nearly 25% higher than last year. Among the 24 countries or blocs listed by the USDA, only three are expected to import less than last year: China, Russia, and Ukraine.
However, the decline will largely be offset by increased imports from the Middle East (an additional 508,000 tons), keeping the region (Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and others) as the world’s largest importer—2.81 million tons in 2034, nearly double the volume projected for Mexico.
Regarding China, the country is beginning to transition from a major importer to a significant exporter, repeating what happened with Russia.
