Poland has notified the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) of a new outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) at a domestic pig farm in Świecie, in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region.
According to the immediate notification filed through the WAHIS system, the event began on July 6, 2026, and was confirmed the following day.
The outbreak has been classified as a recurrence of a disease previously considered eradicated in the country, with the last outbreak having been reported on May 9, 2025. The source of the infection has been described as "unknown or inconclusive."
The affected farm had 774 susceptible animals, all of which became infected, with 20 deaths reported. No animals have yet been culled or slaughtered for commercial purposes. The outbreak remains ongoing, according to Eurocarne.
