Sheep meat imports fall 30% year-on-year

China’s sheep meat imports contracted significantly at the start of 2026. In the first quarter they totaled just 78,796 tons for US$ 354 million, down 29.7% year-on-year in volume and 17.6% in value.

In March, the trend continued, with imports down 30.5% year-on-year in volume to 29,681 tons and 16.3% in value to US$ 133 million.
