In Australia —one of the countries most affected by China’s move— concern is “very strong,” especially among feedlots running long programs of 150 or 200 days. “The situation is tight. What is being placed today will go to slaughter in May, and by then quota is expected to be exhausted. Some estimate Australia will run out of quota between May and June,” an operator explained.
