Conab projects stable meat production in Brazil

Beef, pork, and poultry production in Brazil is expected to reach 31.57 million tons in 2025, remaining close to the record level of 31.58 million tons reached in 2024.

The estimated result is driven by increased pork and poultry production, according to the updated supply table released on Friday by the National Supply Company (Conab).

A new record is expected for pork production this year, reaching 5.56 million tons—up 4.4% compared to 2024. “The consistent increases in pork production are based on greater diversification of cuts for the domestic market and the expansion into new international markets,” said Gabriel Rabello, manager of Fibers and Basic Foods at Conab.

In the case of beef, a drop in production is forecast, signaling a reversal in the cattle cycle, with the beginning of heifer retention and reduced female slaughter. Even so, production is expected to reach 10.52 million tons, the second highest in the company’s historical series.

Domestic availability of beef is projected to decline to 6.58 million tons. Given the competitiveness of Brazilian beef in the international market, exports are expected to continue growing and may reach 4 million tons. China, currently accounting for 41% of total exports, is projected to remain the main buyer. In addition, U.S. demand for Brazilian beef has increased, rising from 8% in 2024 to 13% this year.
