Export pace slowed in May
Brazilian beef exports in May totaled 218,074 tons at an average price of US$ 5,201, according to data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex). Although the volume was slightly higher than in the same month last year, it fell nearly 10% compared to April. The daily export pace in May averaged 10,385 tons, almost 1,700 tons less than the over 12,000 tons shipped daily in April.
The average export price continued to rise, reaching US$/t 5,201—up US$/t 300 from the March low. It was the highest average price since November 2022.
In the first five months of 2025, Brazil exported 1.046 million tons of beef at an average price of US$/t 5,020. Volume rose 10.4% and the average value increased 11.0% compared to the same period last year.
Poultry meat exports plummeted 18% month-on-month to 441 thousand tons due to market closures following the avian influenza case detected in Rio Grande do Sul.
