Export sector satisfied with the outcome of Anuga 2025

“Few, but good,” summarized a regional trader when assessing the 2025 edition of the Anuga fair in Cologne, Germany. He was referring mainly to the number of visitors —not as overwhelming as in previous editions— but made up of genuine market operators showing real interest in beef.

Even so, few concrete deals were closed, with prices generally holding at similar levels to previous weeks in most cases, and with slight improvements in others.

The overall context remains that of a firm and demanding market in the medium term. This was clearly evident at the stands of South American beef and lamb exporters, and also among major global exporters such as Australia.

An Australian trader told the portal Beef Central that “global protein shortage, plus livestock shortage – both beef and lamb – on top of record high meat prices in the US and Europe, are dragging product out of traditional distribution channels into other markets. And in turn, that’s shorting-up other markets”.

Anuga 2025 concluded on Wednesday, October 8. As usual, the final day of the fair saw much lower activity and attendance. The next edition of the fair will take place from October 9 to 13, 2027.
