The sheepmeat market continues to display the same pattern that has prevailed throughout the first half of the year: very limited supply facing avid demand.
Reference prices were unchanged over the past week, with lambs quoted at US$ 6.15-6.20/kg carcass weight and ewes at US$ 5.10-5.15/kg carcass weight.
Sheep slaughter posted a moderate decline last week. With only two plants showing significant activity, INAC reported that 5,374 sheep were processed, down 1,554 head from the week ended June 20 and 41% below the same week last year. Lambs accounted for 2,856 head, or 53% of the total.
The two plants with significant activity were San Jacinto (3,325 head) and Las Piedras (1,936).
With only two working days remaining in the semester, cumulative sheep slaughter reached 208,339 head, down 29% from the same period in 2025.
