Bom Futuro, the agribusiness group controlled by Eraí Maggi Scheffer, has emerged as one of the leading contenders to acquire Fazenda Conforto, one of Brazil's largest cattle feedlots. The asset, located in Nova Crixás, Goiás state, is valued at around R$ 1.2 billion (US$ 218 million) and belongs to the Negrão family, according to Globo Rural.
The property had been close to being acquired by JBJ Agropecuária, owned by José Batista Júnior (Junior Friboi), but the deal was abandoned after Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) decided to review the transaction under its ordinary procedure instead of the simplified process requested by the parties.
Fazenda Conforto has a static capacity of 71,000 cattle on feed and finished more than 170,000 animals in 2025, making it one of Brazil's largest intensive cattle production operations. If completed, the acquisition would strengthen Bom Futuro's position in the beef sector while further integrating its crop and livestock businesses. The group currently farms about 650,000 hectares of soybeans, corn, and cotton, has grain storage capacity of nearly 1.5 million tons, and slaughters around 90,000 cattle annually.
At the same time, the company is also involved in another major transaction, having reportedly submitted an offer of approximately R$ 1.8 billion (US$ 327 million) to acquire around 41,000 hectares owned by Radar, the farmland company controlled by Cosan and Nuveen.
