US beef exports totaled 64,469 tons in April, down 19% from the same month in 2025 (79,605 tons), while export value declined 10% to US$ 665.9 million, according to USDA data compiled by the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF). The average export value reached US$/t 10,350, up 11% year-on-year.
The main factor behind the decline was the near standstill in shipments to China, which continued to weigh heavily on monthly export performance.
Although exports increased to markets such as Taiwan, Egypt, the Caribbean, the ASEAN region and Peru, shipments declined across several of the leading destinations for US beef. USMEF noted that prospects for a recovery in trade with China have improved following the renewal of registrations for US processing plants, although obstacles remain that continue to limit a full normalization of business.
Offals once again stood out as the strongest-performing segment. Exports increased 20% year-on-year to 25,314 tons, driven primarily by Mexico, the leading destination by volume. Export value to Mexico reached US$ 114.7 million, up 40% from a year earlier.
During the January-April period, US exports of beef and offal totaled 365,138 tons, down 11% from the same period in 2025, while value declined 5% to US$ 3.13 billion. Excluding China from the comparison, however, export volume increased 0.3% and value rose 7%, highlighting the strength of demand in other international markets.
