Prices for Hilton rump & loin cuts continue to show signs of firmness in Europe, supported by limited supply and greater resistance from exporters to accept lower values.
A Uruguayan exporter said deals are already being concluded at around US$/t 19,000 FOB for the Hilton rump & loin set. Similarly, a European importer reported references of US$/t 20,000 FOB for Argentina and US$/t 19,000 FOB for Uruguay, adding that the market could gain another US$/t 200 if supply remains constrained.
In Argentina, industry sources described the market as stable, with Hilton rump & loin business taking place in a US$/t 19,000-19,800 FOB range. However, they agreed that activity remains limited. “There are few deals and little supply,” an Argentine source said.
Lower beef availability from Argentina and expectations regarding the potential impact of European restrictions on Brazilian beef starting in September continue to provide support to the market, which appears to have found a floor after the correction seen through late May and early June.
