The Chilean market continues to show moderate activity, with business concentrated mainly around Brazilian supply, while Paraguay continues to face difficulties obtaining the prices sought by its industry.
A regional trader reported recent Brazilian deals for the traditional 19-cut set at US$/t 6,900-7,000 CFR. For Paraguay, he said market references are currently around US$/t 7,400-7,500 CFR, although he has yet to see actual business concluded at those levels.
According to the trader, some Paraguayan plants involved in kosher production are attempting to position prices even higher, around US$/t 7,800 CFR, while other processors are quoting somewhat more moderate values.
Meanwhile, a Paraguayan exporter said Chilean business remains stable compared with the previous week, with references at US$/t 7,800 CFR for the 19-cut set.
