Russian sanitary authorities have officially recognized all of Brazil as free of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) without vaccination, in line with the new sanitary status recently granted by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). China granted the same recognition last week.
According to Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, the decision represents a significant step forward in the sanitary and trade agenda between the two countries and reflects Russia’s confidence in Brazil’s animal health system.
The recognition is the result of joint efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and adds to a series of international advances stemming from Brazil’s new sanitary status.
Brazilian authorities highlighted that the measure helps expand market access conditions for Brazilian agricultural products in Russia, particularly for animal protein sectors, while reinforcing the country’s image as a reliable and competitive supplier in global trade.
