Steer slaughter reached 19,598 head, down 19%, with the category accounting for less than 50% of total slaughter after eight consecutive weeks above that threshold.
Cow slaughter totaled 12,117 head, down 21%, while heifer slaughter was the only category to increase, rising 17% to 7,252 head, according to INAC data.
The weekly slaughter ranking was led by Las Piedras with 5,239 head, followed by PUL-Minerva (3,689), San Jacinto-Urgal (3,526), Cledinor-MBRF (3,141), and BPU-Minerva (3,132).
Year-to-date cattle slaughter totals 922,291 head, down 18% from the same period last year.
