Brazilian beef processor Masterboi will invest R$ 60 million in a new freezing tunnel at its Canhotinho plant in the state of Pernambuco, aiming to increase slaughter capacity from 700 to 900 head per day and double its export capacity.
According to the company, the investment will create about 200 new jobs and support the expansion of both domestic and international sales. Masterboi president Nelson Bezerra said the new facility will be key to increasing industrial scale and strengthening the company’s presence in export markets.
The project follows another major expansion plan recently announced by the company: the construction of a new beef plant in Iguatu, Ceará, with an estimated investment of R$ 300 million. The facility is expected to have an initial slaughter capacity of 500 head per day, generate more than 500 direct jobs, and begin operations in 2028.
Masterboi said both investments are aimed at expanding cattle processing capacity in northeastern Brazil and supporting the growth of its export business.
