Cattle prices strengthened again at the end of May and reached new highs for the year. While processors’ list prices are around US$/kg 4.90 carcass for standard slaughter-ready males and US$/kg 4.65 carcass for finished cows, deals with deferred payment terms are now commonly being concluded at US$/kg 4.95 carcass for standard males. Meanwhile, traceable cattle destined for the European Union are already trading above US$/kg 5.00 carcass.
