Beef prices recorded a strong increase across the European Union during 2025 amid tighter cattle supplies in the market.
According to data analyzed by Eurostat, the average beef price in the bloc rose nearly 10% over the year, reflecting pressure from reduced supply. Other proteins also posted gains. Prices for sheep and goat meat increased 7.2%, while poultry prices rose 4.4% during the same period.
The report indicates that lower cattle availability, both in Europe and globally, remains one of the main factors supporting strong meat prices in the European market. Among the 25 countries analyzed, Switzerland was the only one to record a decline in sheep and goat prices (-4.2%), while Kosovo posted the largest increase, with prices rising 15.2%.
