Uruguay sustains grainfed beef exports to the EU
Uruguay’s role as a supplier of grainfed beef under the European Union’s 481 quota sustained in the latest agricultural year. According to data accessed by World Beef Report, between July 2024 and June 2025 Uruguay shipped 12,376 tons of beef from grainfed animals. Part of this volume was included in the 13,600-ton quota for the 2024/25 year, while the rest had to pay a portion of the tariff since in every quarter of the year beef imports exceeded the quota. In the last 12 months, the average value of grainfed shipments was US$/t 11,600, up 10% from the previous year.
