The Type Steer 2.0 value increased by US$ 6 in September, or 0.3%, to US$ 2,123 per head, INAC reported. This was the second consecutive record for the indicator, which estimates the average sales value of all products obtained from a 520-kg liveweight beef-breed steer or crossbred animal with a 54% dressing percentage.
The purchase price of these animals recorded a larger monthly increase, rising from US$ 1,745 in August to US$ 1,767, up US$ 22 per head. Consequently, the difference between the two values, which INAC calls Industrial Value Added (IVA), narrowed by US$ 16 to US$ 356 per head.
Year on year, IVA increased by 41%, or slightly more than US$ 100 per head, while the Type Steer value rose by 19% and the cattle purchase price increased by 15%.
