The United States government expanded its preferential-tariff beef import quota for the second time this year on Wednesday, once again leaving Uruguay outside the benefit. The move comes via a presidential proclamation signed by Donald Trump on the evening of August 26, authorizing a temporary 300,000-metric-ton (mt) increase to the 2026 tariff-rate quota (TRQ) for lean beef trimmings.
