Paraguay Type Steer 2.0 improved in July, in a scenario where the higher value generated from beef sales was enough to absorb an increase in the price paid for cattle while also lifting the Industrial Gross Margin (IGM).
The indicator is prepared by the Paraguayan Association of Meat Producers and Exporters (APPEC) and Soluciones Agropecuarias. During the month, the total value of the Type Steer reached US$1,690 per head, around US$12 more than the US$1,678 recorded in June. At the same time, cattle value increased by US$7 per head, while the industry’s gross margin improved by US$5 per animal. As a result, July showed a positive performance for the two main links analyzed by the indicator.
The steer purchase price increased from US$4.99 to US$5.02 per kilogram, while the IGM rose from US$426 to US$431 per head, equivalent to 25.5% of the total Type Steer value.
